Primary responsibilities:

Helen provides leadership for UE’s organizational and strategic planning, campus accreditation processes, and UE projects including undergraduate time-to-degree. She is responsible for all UE staff management. She supervises the administrative team in UE, and works with Academic Advising, the Center for Leadership Learning, UE Business Operations, and UE Communications. Helen interfaces with the UC Office of the President, the systemwide staff of the Vice Provosts for Undergraduate Education, the UC Davis Offices of the Chancellor and Provost, Budget and Institutional Analysis, Human Resources, and assistant deans. In collaboration with Matt Traxler, she co-manages supplemental budget requests. She is a member of the commencement council.

Primary responsibilities:
Matt interfaces with Academic Senate leadership on all matters for UE. He closes the loop on undergraduate program review, coordinates with admissions, deans, and departments on overall decision making, and interfaces Registrar, Admissions, and Student Affairs AVC. Matt supervises Summer Sessions and International & Academic English. He is a member of the following committees:

Marco Molinaro, PhD

Primary responsibilities:

Marco Molinaro, Ph.D., is the Assistant Vice Provost for Educational Effectiveness at UC Davis where he oversees the Center for Educational Effectiveness. Dr. Molinaro has more than 20 years of educational experience creating and leading technology applications for instruction, scientific visualization and simulation, curriculum development and evaluation, and science exhibits for students from elementary school through graduate school and for the general public.

Marco is engaged in campuswide leadership efforts to improve undergraduate educational effectiveness through evidence-based decision making and faculty support. The CEE works with faculty and staff throughout the university to evolve the introductory undergraduate curriculum, understand and measure change with new analytics tools and approaches that guide instructional improvement, and develop actionable student success models. Marco's projects have been funded though the NSF, NIH and various private foundations such as Gates, Intel and the Helmsley Trust.

Primary responsibilities:

The Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education serves as Director of the University Honors and First Year Seminars Programs and has administrative responsibility for the Undergraduate Research Center. He works with faculty and administration in the Colleges, as well as administration and staff in Admissions, the Registrar’s Office, and Financial Aid to ensure the recruitment, academic success, and professional growth of high achieving and high potential University Honors Program students. He is also responsible for over 300 first year seminars per year serving over 4,000 new students in transformative small class settings. Working closely with the Undergraduate Research Center faculty director and staff, he supports excellence in undergraduate research across the disciplines as key aspect of the UC Davis academic experience.

Dave is also a Professor of Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior, serving as a faculty member at UC Davis since 1998. His research on the roles of thyroid hormones and other endocrine factors in vertebrate development has been funded by the NIH, the US EPA, and European agencies. He has been a visiting faculty member at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, MA and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, Heidelberg, Germany, and at UC Davis, primarily teaches undergraduate physiology and endocrinology courses.
