Educational Effectiveness Hub Launches

At the outset of a new academic year, UE is excited to announce a new beginning for educational effectiveness at UC Davis.  Under the leadership of Marco Molinaro, Assistant Vice Provost for Educational Effectiveness, the venerable Center for Education in Teaching and Learning and innovative newcomer iAMSTEM Hub are combining their talents and experience toward the shared goals of envisioning and promoting educational effectiveness at UC Davis.  Staff from both units are reorganizing under the Educational Effectiveness Hub to found the Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE) and the Center for Educational Analytics (CEA).

The Center for Educational Effectiveness advances the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of instruction.  CEE provides curricular alignment, integration and assessment, as well as advanced course/series research and development.  CEE provides community building and professional development for faculty and TAs.  Our goals are to enhance student learning, increase retention, and improve time to graduation for all students.

The Center for Educational Analytics supports evidence-based decision making in higher education through institutional- and college-scale analyses and modeling.  The campus hub for learning analytics, CDS creates academic analytic tools, analyzes learning systems, and implements predictive models for action.  CDS also provides educational research support, and does program evaluation for Undergraduate Education.

As part of the transition, the First-Year Seminars program, formerly housed in CETL, will be under the leadership of incoming Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education Dave Furlow. Academic program assessment will be under AVP-AP Matt Traxler.
