Learn, Research, Intern, Connect, Lead: Undergraduate Education Programs in the Remote Year

Undergraduate Education’s Programs and Initiatives are Going Strong in the Remote Environment.

We're all missing our in-person connections. Now more than ever, it's important to tap into programs that enhance your education, whether you're interested in getting involved with research, taking specialized small classes, developing as a leader, or making a friend from another culture, we've adapted our offerings to make the most of the new environment.

Special Classes and Internships

First-Year Seminars

FYS have always been a great way for the newest Aggies to connect with faculty and fellow students in an environment that fosters active, engaged learning. We've tailored these classes for the remote environment. Whatever your interests, First-Year Seminars offer small, synchronous classes that will help you to grow, engage, and be seen.

Quarter at Aggie Square

If you want to feel fully connected with faculty and fellow undergraduate students, Quarter at Aggie Square is an amazing opportunity. You will take all of your classes with a cohort of 25 or fewer students and 3-4 dedicated faculty.  Classes center on a themed topic of mutual interest, and you will engage with a virtual community internship. Winter 2021 offers Advancing Healthcare Equity, and Spring 2021 debuts Multilingual Education for California.

Washington Program

Intern with a Washington, DC based organization. Remote internships are available with government offices, non-profits, scientific and medical institutions, museums, regulatory agencies – and the list goes on! Many remote internships allow students to set their own schedules giving them more flexibility to balance a part-time job and/or course schedule.  And since remote internships have no geographical restrictions, students can choose to intern in or outside of the DC area to get opportunities in their field of interest.  UCDC staff will work closely with you to secure an internship.

Enhancing Your Education: Research, Leadership and More

Undergraduate Research Center

The URC offers a wealth of informational sessions, programs, and workshops online for students who want to get involved. We're continuing to offer research funding and awards. And our signature event, the UC Davis Undergraduate research , scholarship, and creative activities conference, will be online again this spring!

Center for Leadership Learning

CLL offers drop-in workshops as well as unit-bearing certificate cohorts. Our workshops support the development of leadership and personal skills that will help you to thrive and connect. Beginning this winter, our certificate programs will put you together with a group of fellow students interested in Diversity Leadership Development Program and the Student Leadership Development Program.

Pal Program

Want to meet with an online Pal (and fellow UC Davis student) for conversation and intercultural exchange? We're here to help! The Pal Program pairs up UC Davis undergraduate students for intercultural conversation experiences. Participants can use these sessions to increase their intercultural awareness, practice a target language, and develop friendships.
