UC Assessment Conference returns for second year at UC Davis

Registration is now open for the second UC Assessment Conference in the UC Davis Conference Center Feb. 12. UC faculty, instructors, graduate students and staff are invited to gather, collaborate and share at this year’s conference.

Assessment professionals can anticipate opportunities to discuss equity-minded practices and connect with colleagues who share a commitment to advancing equity in higher education. The conference theme, “Equity-Minded Student Learning Outcomes Assessment across the Institution,” focuses on ideas and perspectives from across multiple learning systems.

“A full agenda of 31 presentations and roundtables are offered this year, “ said Kem Saichaie, executive director of the Center for Educational Effectiveness. “The sessions include a wide array of topics, with presenters from nine UC campuses and four community colleges.”

Natasha Jankowski, director for the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, is this year’s keynote speaker. Her address, “Introduction to the Learning Systems Paradigm,” kicks off the conference by sharing foundational text from her book, “Degrees that Matter: Moving Higher Education to a Learning System Paradigm.”

A preconference workshop takes place Feb. 11. The workshop is designed for UC assessment professionals, academic leaders and others whose day-to-day work includes supporting, managing or supervising assessment efforts for academic programs and beyond.

The Center for Educational Effectiveness, a unit of the Office of Undergraduate Education, hosts this year’s UC Assessment Conference and Preconference Workshop. The center supports UC Davis faculty and instructors through a wide range of trainings, tools and resources.
