Is the university doing anything to make tutoring services more available to students on campus?

Carolyn: A committee met last year to discuss what the most important changes would be to campus if we wanted to help all of our students enjoy better academic success. One of the top answers was enhancing tutoring services. A committee is meeting, starting next month, to help our campus expand help for writing as well as other STEM courses (like chemistry and math). Some people are interested in having more students serve as “learning assistants”—these are students who have already taken a class and been successful coming back to a subsequent section of the class to help students with the material. It’s kind of like a tutor, but one embedded in the class. In addition to these ideas, the Academic Assistance and Tutoring Center is always looking for ways that they can better help students and if you want to share your ideas with them on how to do that, don’t hesitate to reach out @ https://tutoring.ucdavis.edu/.
