What does the Dean of Undergraduate Education do?

The Vice Provost and Dean of Undergraduate Education is the campus’s lead administrator for undergraduate student academic success. She works with the associate deans in the colleges to make sure students have sufficient courses and excellent academic advising and the academic senate to help new undergraduate degree programs emerge and existing ones to stay strong. She also works with the nearly fifty staff members in Undergraduate Education to help all sorts of programs that offer services directly to students and faculty continue to meet everyone’s teaching and learning needs—things like International and Academic English, the Undergraduate Research Center, Summer Sessions, the Washington DC Program, the Center for Educational Effectiveness, the Center for Leadership Learning, the University Honors Program & First Year Seminars and the Pilot Testing Center.
